Hurrah!

I know what I'm doing in class tomorrow! A COMIC!

Friday, November 28, 2008

Yssie and Mitchell, try posting something. According to my little list thing you should be able to... just post anything, it doesn't have to be interesting, I just want to see if you're able to.
today we wrote lists, some of them started like this...

a list of lists:
some things to avoid...
ways in which i am not emo...
things i should have said...
adventures i wish to have...
people i intend to meet...
tomorrow is like...
things i wish to acquire...
things grown ups should avoid...
some ideals...
ways to be a child...
things in my head...
things that should not be left lying around...
ways to avoid chores...
words that i would never use to describe myself...

Song-Typewriting...

I really really really love typewriters.

Mine's called Louanne. I'm not sure how old she is, but she's amazingly adorable.

Writing songs on typewriters is the best. Here's one I prepared earlier:

irony spills from your blackened tongue

the ice never melted

and the stars always shone

the faces of the people you never knew

fake their broken smiles

and revere over you

the carcrash dreams were never forgotten

and the broken seams were only cotton

because the world got the better of humanity

forever is just a waste of time

and the calendar's bet on a rugged dime

perhaps we're all just caught up in our vanity

heart-broken eyes say a million words

read me your story

throw the rest to the birds

dainty delusions aren't all what they seem

you're no good at hiding

your fraudulent scheme

well the cracked mirror never told you otherwise
so you stood and you stared 'til the world burned down your eyes
dressed up in screams is the worst kind of disguise
so I'll see you in red 'til we say our last goodbyes

See that lack of grammar, Frances!

I haven't orgasmed that hard since your mother.

I got SO excited today about starting my own visual diary next year. I went out to buy one...HOWEVER, before that, I had marbles class...so instead I just bought a few bags of marbles.

MAN, I am such an excitment whore. I get so into the theme of the class.

...

Please PLEASE Frances, don't make a "columbine: film study" class...

Something lyrical...

Today we tried putting all the song lyrics we had in our heads on paper.

I am now thinking about what attracts us to song lyrics, is it because we can relate to them, because they sound poetic/lyrical or is it because we idolise the writer/singer?

These are the lyrics to Bob Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues...

Johnny's in the basement
Mixing up the medicine
Im on the pavement
Thinking about the government
The man in the trench coat
Badge out, laid off
Says hes got a bad cough
Wants to get it paid off
Look out kid
Its something you did
God knows when
But youre doin it again
You better duck down the alley way
Lookin for a new friend
The man in the coon-skin cap
In the big pen
Wants eleven dollar bills
You only got ten

Maggie comes fleet foot
Face full of black soot
Talkin that the heat put
Plants in the bed but
The phones tapped anyway
Maggie says that many say
They must bust in early may
Orders from the d. a.
Look out kid
Dont matter what you did
Walk on your tip toes
Dont try no doz
Better stay away from those
That carry around a fire hose
Keep a clean nose
Watch the plain clothes
You dont need a weather man
To know which way the wind blows

Get sick, get well
Hang around a ink well
Ring bell, hard to tell
If anything is goin to sell
Try hard, get barred
Get back, write braille
Get jailed, jump bail
Join the army, if you fail
Look out kid
Youre gonna get hit
But losers, cheaters
Six-time users
Hang around the theaters
Girl by the whirlpool
Lookin for a new fool
Dont follow leaders
Watch the parkin meters

Ah get born, keep warm
Short pants, romance, learn to dance
Get dressed, get blessed
Try to be a success
Please her, please him, buy gifts
Dont steal, dont lift
Twenty years of schoolin
And they put you on the day shift
Look out kid
They keep it all hid
Better jump down a manhole
Light yourself a candle
Dont wear sandals
Try to avoid the scandals
Dont wanna be a bum
You better chew gum
The pump dont work
cause the vandals took the handles

Punctuation is...

In class today we tried writing for ten minutes without any punctuation, we didn't even have a topic, we just wrote. I think it was harder than we expected, but it was interesting to see how we used words and gaps to do the things that punctuation usually does for us.

The business...

Our first task is going to be making up some guidelines for using this thing. Yeah, I know that sounds rather dull but I think we should have some incase things get crazy. What do you think?

Expand on these:

Share.
Don't write nasty stuff.
Don't be a nuisance.
Appreciate differences.
Respect.

Another thing, who should we let read our writing? Just us, people we invite or everybody?

What is the purpose of the blog!? Is it to publish our finished work, get feedback on drafts, to share silly stories, all of the above or something else?

What do you want my role to be? Should I be the teacher, or just another writer? I want you to participate freely, and with confidence so I want this blog to be as much yours as mine. Meaning, you can help design the layout and give feedback on my writing too.

That's all for now.

P.S. Post stuff, I don't want to feel like I'm talking to myself.
